The Ultimate Guide( Main Game Areas )

Part I - Starting Out and The BasicsYou will most likely notice that most of this will be similar to my original noob guide, but not exactly. Enjoy!



So I'm not going to make a list of "do .... collect reward" , but instead I'm going to show you two main things about getting the most out of beginners protection. One how to get the most prestige in beginners protection and two how to build your city so that you are ready to take on everyone when you get out of beginners protection.



Getting the most prestige in beginners protection


First you need to know the three basic things:
  • Never except any promotions until your out of beginners protection.
  • Never upgrade your town hall past level 2 in the first 5 days.
  • Always be building something.

By doing this when ever you attack a valley or build a building you get more prestige. Ultimately this will get you more prestige so you can get in a
better alliance.

Now to go into detail with this. The whole point of having a horrible town hall and no promotions is that the game mechanics are made so that if it
were more realistic. Just like honor works... when you attack bigger players and win you can get more honor. Same thing, but instead you get prestige. Pretty cool huh?

Build!
It is important that you build non stop especially it being the best way to earn prestige overall! As you build you will notice that after you start building your buildings past level five you get good chunks of prestige. (with a level 2 town hall...)

Research
While in this time it is important to focus on the research for your resource production. You also can get
reasonable amounts of prestige from research. So I would suggest getting a hero with good intelligence for
your research.(That's what I did for the first 5 days. Then I got a politics hero.)

Attacking
In beginners protection of coarse you can not attack other players but
you can attack valleys and NPCs (Don't suggest attacking NPC's). While in
beginners protection I did attack some, but ultimately I found it not something to rely on for prestige purposes.


Kinda simple... Just a way you can get into a better alliance. (Using this I came out of beginners protection with around 90k prestige.)


How to build your city

I'm going to divide this into different sections per building. Stating what level and how many is needed and why.

Barracks
You need 10-12 of these. That way you can make more troops quicker.
Anymore and you will not have enough room for cottages so you can make
larger amounts of troops at one time.

Cottages
you need 8-10 of these. This is a good amount of cottages for building troops
and for labor force.

Sawmills
To start of with(if you have a level 2 town hall) you need 6. You always need lumber!

Farms
You only need 2(at high levels) farms. Mainly because lumber can be sold to buy food and you can farm NPCs later on.

Quarry

You don't need any. Stone is very cheap and you can buy lots of it!!! (You will need one at level 2 for your walls but that's it.)

Iron Mines
You only need 6 of these to start of with(if you have a level 2 town hall). They are needed just like lumber.

Ware House
build only 1. That way if you get attacked you have food for comforting.(This also means you have to
put the storage on food at 100.)

Inn
Keep it at level 1. That way you can destroy it and rebuild it to find new heroes.

Relief station
Very important for troop traveling time but not necessary in beginners protection.

Overall when you are building try to to focus on getting your barracks, cottages and resource fields at high levels.

Wall Defenses


Wall defenses are good to have, but I would not focus on getting any until
you are at the last couple days of beginners protection. The most important
one is archer towers. This is because they can be used more than once,
have great range and they are very effective. So if you get to building wall
defenses build archer towers.

Noobs After beginners Protection


So there's a time right after beginners protection that you are still considered a noob. (This is usually the following week after beginners protection.)
In this time you are venerable and can be plundered. This is also the time time you build your troops and being plundered can be a problem.
In this part of my guide you will learn how to deal with these things.


Being Attacked And Plundered


To prevent losing battles and being plundered you need to follow a few things.
  • Always have one Ware House, because if you are plundered you need
    food to comfort.
  • Have good wall defenses.(At this point you need to be building Archer Towers)
  • Try to keep a good number of scouts to prevent scouting.(Their cheap and quick to make)
  • During this time have a good attack Hero as mayor so you can train troops faster and
    build up your army quicker. This will hopefully help you have more troops to defend your city.
  • Try to focus on researching your Iron working so you have a better defense.
  • Get in a good alliance. If you followed part one you should have enough prestige to get in a decent alliance. You will also need a good embassy so
    your alliance can send you reinforcements when being attacked. That also means you need a good Beacon Tower to see what is being sent at you.

So these are basically all the things you need to have to prevent being plundered, so that you can build more troops with the resources you have saved.


Building Your Army


You are now at the point where you need to be building up you army so that
you can fight others and have a better chance of winning. Here is some knowledge and tips about starting your army for the first time.


The Roots Of A Good Army

Ok like I stated earlier you need to be building your army at this time and there are three kind of troops you need to build the most of and that would be:

(This is what helped me the most in my opinion at this stage of playing.)

Swordsmen- For defense(don't help to much on attacking players)

Archers
- They are good for attacking and can also help defend your city.

Warriors- They are weak in small numbers but when you have large
amounts of them they can be a lethal fighting force.

These are the roots of a good army and are needed even by the most
experienced players.


The Main Parts of Every Army

Scouts
Scouts are needed even at this stage. While you may not be using them for
scouting other players, you do need them to prevent the scouting of your
city and if someone can't scout your city there's a good chance they wont
attack you. So I would suggest that you at least have 6k scouts for now.

While we are on this subject you need to get your informatics up as high as
you can to help with this too.

Cataphracts and Cavalry

All I can say is that there good to have and if you can keep up with them
then you will have a strong army, but they take so much food it can be hard
to keep up with them at this stage.

Pikemen and Swordsmen

Both have good defense and are very effective against some of the most
commonly used troops and in this case it's Cavalry and Archers. I would
suggest using these to your advantage at this stage.

Siege Weapons

You don't really need them right now unless you are using ballista to farm
NPC's. They are also very expensive to make. That is why I did not have to
many siege weapons when I was at this stage of playing.

Workers and Warriors
Workers are useless and are only needed to make new cities. Warriors on the
on the other hand are a great tool when in large numbers. Warriors can be
crushed when defending a city though.


Alliances For Noobs

Here is the basics of getting into a alliance and some of the benefits.

Finding a good alliance

Now during this time you should have came out with a good chunk of
prestige, so that means it's time to join an alliance. All I can really say is talk
to the host before you join. Find out about the members and how active
they are. Also ask how many other alliances their in war with. That way you
can determine if their a "baby alliance", or not.


Embassy

So the greatest benefit of alliance is that your alliance will be able to
reinforce your city with troops, so if you get attacked you may survive.
So I would suggest you get a embassy of at least level 5.



Now you know How to build your army, how many is needed of each and how to prevent the plundering of your city.


This is just the basics!

Part II - Walls and Defences

Your Walls protect your city and are very important to have, but here I will go into detail on how the wall mechanics work!



Walls

The walls are almost like the first line of defense and play a major role in the defense of your city.

Wall Durability

The way durability used to work is that if the enemy army can't destroy your walls in 100 rounds, they all automatically die. Now whatever troops were living at the end of the 100th round are able to return home. As you weaken the wall durability it will eventually crumble.

Level 1 - 100,000
Level 2 - 300,000
Level 3 - 600,000
Level 4 - 1,000,000
Level 5 - 1,500,000
Level 6 - 2,100,000
Level 7 - 2,800,000
Level 8 - 3,600,000
Level 9 - 4,500,000
Level 10 - 5,500,000

Wall Range Bonuses

Walls give out a 5% range bonus to all defending troops. The range bonuses are listed below for each wall level.

To find out the range of a specified unit use this equation:

Units Range x (Archery Level percent + Walls Range percent) =

Examples:

Archers: Range=1200, Archery Level 10, Walls level 10

1200
+ 1200 * 10 archery * 0.05
+ 1200 * 10 walls * 0.05
= 1200 + 1200*0.5 + 1200*0.5
= 2400

This is an Archers max Range

Archer Tower: Range=1300, Archer Level 10, Walls level 10

1300 x 2 = 2600 range. This is a Archer Tower's max Range

Use this equation to get the range of other defending units like ballista, catapults and traps and so on.


Defenses

So here are all the fortified units and all about them...


Traps
The trap is designed to kill an even number of all infantry, so 100 warriors, 100 swordsmen, and 100 archers were sent to attack, and the wall had 100 traps, then the attackers would loose roughly 33 warriors, swordsmen, and archers.

However, many people have started to send a large number of warriors in one wave, then the rest of the army in the next wave. This causes the traps to only kill warriors, and not the more expensive troops.
It has also been found that if you send 100 warriors at 100 traps, then 100 warriors will die. However if you send 200 warriors then only about 90 warriors will die, 300 and less will die. (This is a rough estimate and the actual numbers could greatly vary.)

Overall having a good bit of traps never hurts you.


Abatis
An Abatis is a type of fortified unit consisting of wooden barricades with spear points. It is effective only against mounted troops, such as cavalry and cataphract. It has no effect on other units, but is helpful for protecting your city from those who plan to drop your loyalty with cavalry and cataphract.

Like all Evony defences it is only effective in huge numbers.


Archer Towers
Towers built on city walls to provide a vantage point for shooting enemies. Like all Evony defenses it is only effective in huge numbers.

Archer's towers are very sturdy and are not easy to destroy as an attacker but don't delude yourself that you are safe.

At Level 5 Walls and below, towers can be blown away by:
  • Archers on about a 3:1 ratio (eg 9,000 Archers will make mincemeat of 3,000 Towers), provided the attackers Archery research is similar or higher than the defenders although this ratio changes to 5:1 if the defenders walls are level 6 or higher.
  • Ballista - they stand-off and reduce Towers at little to no loss to themselves, also depending on Archery levels.
  • Catapult - they stand-off and reduce Towers at little to no loss to themselves, also depending on Archery levels.
-with walls above level six the generally accepted ratio of archers to archer towers is 10:1, to avoid heavy losses.


Trebuchet
Originally these were a short range defense, so Ballistas and Catapults could easily destroy them, but
the late May 2009 range change now makes them very useful against these mechanics. They are now on a par
with Traps and Abatis. They also attack any troop which can be a problem if they are being wasted by scout bombs.


Rolling Logs
A rollinglog is a type of fortified unit consisting of a large rolling log. These logs weigh a lot, roll downhill quickly, and will crush attacking units to death.

They are a rather ineffective 'one-use' weapon. Scout and Cavalry spam attacks can trigger and waste them for little return. For this very reason you should not focus on building rolling logs as much as the others.

Always remember that your defenses and walls work best with the assistance of your army, so always keep your gates open.

Part III - Unit and Combat TacticsHere you will learn about the units, combat tactics and most importantly how to feed your large armies.


Feeding Your Armies


When you are feeding your army it usually narrows down to NPC Farming.
Here is chart on the troops needed for attacking NPC's and that troop would be the ballista. Only use this troop for 5 and under level NPC's any level after that use large amounts of archers.

Number of ballista to successfully farm an NPC.


Level One - 20
Level Two - 50
Level Three - 170
Level Four - 250
Level Five - 400
After level 5 NPC's you begin to take loses, because of the defensive trebuchet.
Level Six - 900
Level Seven - 2,500
Level Eight - 4,000
Level Nine - 9,000
Level Ten - ???? (Way more than 9,000.)

The amount of transports is similar to the amount of ballista your sending.


Also Remember this with the HBR and Archery tech:


Generally speaking Horseback Riding (HBR) has some bugs and it's best to keep your HBR below your archery skill level so your ballistas don't commit suicide. There is a bug where your ballistas might keep moving forward in battle instead of stopping to shoot. If your archery is 8 for example you want your HBR to be 7 or below. You do not want your HBR to be as high as your archery. I've lost 800 ballistas when attacking NPCs and I've seen my friend loose 1200 because of this bug.

Here is the information needed to be known about the different troops.


Warriors
Life: 200

Range: 20

Warriors are only effective in large groups, or are more commonly used to clear out the traps of a defending city.


Workers
Life: 100
Population: 1
Attack: 5
Defense: 10
Load: 200
Upkeep: 2
Speed: 180
Range: 10

Workers are completely useless and should never be bought. They are only needed to make new cities.


Scouts
Life: 100
Population: 1
Attack: 20
Defense: 20
Load: 5
Upkeep: 5
Speed: 3000
Range: 20

Scouts are very important for preventing the scouting of your city (If you keep your gates open) and scouting others. And even in battle we use them in what is known as the scout bomb, which I will talk more about later on.


Pikemen
Life: 300
Population: 1
Attack: 150
Defense: 150
Load: 40
Upkeep: 6
Speed: 300
Range: 50

This troop is more of something you keep at your city for protection from those annoying pony raids. You will most likely need 10k - 15k+ of these to help protect you phracts' and ponies. For pikes to kill ponies, the required ratio is roughly 3:2 at pikes to ponies.


Swords men
Life: 350
Population: 1
Attack: 100
Defense: 250
Load: 30
Upkeep: 7
Speed: 275
Range: 30

These are excellent for defense and by keeping 20k + of these troops at your city along with your archers you have a much better chance of surviving. (Not so great for attacking.)


Archers
Life: 250
Population: 2
Attack: 120
Defense: 50
Load: 25
Upkeep: 9
Speed: 250
Range: 1200

Archers are the most common troop and are very effective. One way you may see these troops being used is in an rainbow, which will be talked about later.


Cavalry
Life: 500
Population: 3
Attack: 250
Defense: 180
Load: 100
Upkeep: 18
Speed: 1000
Range: 100

These troops are very effective against most things, because of their strength and speed. They are commonly used in pony raids to drop your loyalty.


Cataphracts
Life: 1000
Population: 6
Attack: 350
Defense: 350
Load: 80
Upkeep: 35
Speed: 750
Range: 80

These troops are great to have and are good for defending or attacking, unfortunately you hardly ever see these troops, because they take so much food. If you are an more advanced player that has them I've tried rainbowing them with cavalry and scouts for extra protection. Also once they reach any enemy archers it's an 1:8 ratio (phract to Archer).


Transporters
Life: 700
Population: 4
Attack: 10
Defense: 60
Load: 5000
Upkeep: 10
Speed: 150
Range: 10

Good for plundering cities and transporting bigger loads. Cheap and not a whole lot to them. Their no good in battle in fact they stay behind the army and only get killed until your army dies.


Ballista
Life: 320
Population: 5
Attack: 450
Defence: 160
Load: 35
Upkeep: 50
Speed: 100
Range: 1400

Ballista are your every day siege weapons. Their not so great in battle because of them being so slow and are destroyed by archer towers. So keep them for NPC farming and nothing else.


Battery Rams
Life: 5000
Population: 10
Attack: 250
Defence: 160
Load: 45
Upkeep: 100
Speed: 120
Range: 600

This siege weapon has large amounts of health and if you can get them to attack before reinforcements arrive then your good, but if you get reinforcements that you can't handle then your efforts ware useless.


Catapults
Life: 480
Population: 8
Attack: 600
Defence: 200
Load: 75
Upkeep: 250
Speed: 80
Range: 1500

Everyone says their great and they are, but when reinforcements come you wasted all those resources making them. Not a whole lot you can say about them.


War Tactics


Here are the effective types of attacks.

Rainbow ~ A rain bow is a attack consisting of great amounts of
archers and one of warriors, cavalry, cataphract, scouts, swordsmen and
pikemen. By sending these extra troops you are given extra rounds for your
archers to attack.

Layered Attacks ~ Layered Attacks is a attack consisting of three
different attacks that are at most 30 seconds apart. The first attack
consists of mainly warriors. These warriors will die, but they clear out
traps, and other wall defenses for the second attack. The second attack
consists of archers and sometimes I will throw in some cavalry and
cataphracts. This attack will take losses depending on the amount you send.
The third attack is basically everything else. This attack finishes up the job
and also is for plundering if you want to.

Scout Raids ~ Better Know as scout spamming/ scout bombs, this attack consists
of sending 150k plus scouts at a city and yes the scouts will die, but they
are cheap to make. Because they are cheap and fast to make, they can
be made in large numbers real quick, making them perfect for the job.
These troops are fast and while in battle can reach archers killing a good
30k - 40k if you have 100k - 150k (depending on your heroes attack level).

Warrior Raids ~ This is basically the same as a scout spam, but they
are stronger and can make a bigger impact. They will take loses, but
there is a greater chance of survivors with this strategy. This attack
usually consists of 70k plus warriors. Not very commonly used for the
heavy loses factor.

Pony Raids
~ This is very simple. All you do is send 5k ponies after all the enemies
troops are gone to drop the loyalty.


Range


Here's the short and sweet version:
Range is important because while some troops may have to walk up to you to attack you can be sitting back attacking them for rounds without even losing a solider.

Every soldier starts out with a base range, but by researching archery you can increase that range. By doing so your troops will get more free rounds to shoot your enemies.

Part IV - Alliances and Diplomacy

Creating and The Makings Of A Good Alliance


If you ever want to create an alliance you need to have/ do:

1) Loyal members who are always seeking to get more prestige and bigger armies.

2) Good leaders who can help you keep up with the alliance.

3) Good leadership skills.

4) Always have good players, it's better to have 20 really good player than 100 crapy players.

5) Keep your alliance in an central area so you can easily reinforce each other.

6) Make sure everyone cares about the alliance, because some members just join for the protection and never participate in battle.

7) Keep your alliance known and attack others so more would be willing to join you.

8) When you get big enough try to start sister alliances.

That's all you need to keep in mind.

Also remember there's only two ways you can have a 100 members in your alliance: Ritual pact or a level 10 embassy

Diplomacy


When your in an alliance always try to keep the same amount of allies you do as hostiles, because you always need some one there to help you out when times get tough.

If you have good diplomacy skills you would be amazed with what you can get away with.
For Example:

If you want to attack some one, because they attacked some one in your alliance and you don't want war send the host a mail explaining why you are only attacking him. (Works 75% of the time.)





That's it to having a good alliance.

Part V - Heroes


There are three types of heroes:

Types Of Heroes

Politics: When mayor they increase building time and resource production.

Attack When mayor Increase troop traing time and when attacking it increases attack by 1.2%

When you have an attack hero he gains experience by troops lost and each troop gives him some experience when they die.
Here is the experience each troop gives:

Worker - 2.25

Pike man - 9

Archer - 13.5
Cavalry - 28.5
Cataphract - 87.5
Transporter - 29.75

Intelligence:
Decreases research time when mayor and gives better scout reports when sent on scouting missions.

other info
  • Each hero has loyalty and if at any time that loyalty gets to zero that hero is gone.
  • The best way to get heroes is by recruiting and dismissing heroes until you get your desired hero.(very gold consuming.) You can also destroy and rebuild your inn to get new heroes.
  • Your heroes salary is 20*level, so be careful that your tax rate is not to low.
  • Switch out your heroes, so if your making large amount of troops you just place your attack hero as mayor and it will take less time.

You will most likely remember this from my advanced medal guide.



Introduction


After along time of research tests and gathering information I have built a guide that will go into detail on how to get medals on nerf servers, world servers, newer servers and older servers. I will also have a section for questions that are asked a lot about medals. After reading this my old medal guide will be nothing.

Notes For All Servers
  • While you do not have to it has been found helpful to wait an hour before you attack the same valley or NPC. During that hour all the troops are restored.
  • You do not have to conquer a valley/NPC to get a medal.
  • Your heroes level or it's attributes do not effect the drop rate.
  • The valley type does not matter. You have the same chance of getting a medal from a valley than you do from getting a medal from swamp.
  • Scout spamming can cause negative prestige, so I wouldn't do it.


Medals On Older Servers
This guide applies to servers 1-55.
Drop Rates
The drop rates on these servers are most likely the best in evony. They have been estimated at a 10%-15% drop rate.

Finding Medals
All that is below was made my Hods. Before I could not post this guide, because I was unable to properly give credit to hods by giving a link to his guide.
Which is located here: http://hods.com/evony/getting-medals/. Surprising enough it is still up to date even though it has been around for a while.
This is the only part of this guide that is not made by me unless it is stated other wise in the credits!!!

How to obtain the medals you need:

We will list five or less of the most likely places you will find the respective medal. The first is the highest probability, the second is the next highest, the third the next highest, and so on. Obviously, the first place we list is your best bet of getting that medal. You can of course obtain that medal a different way, but these are the most likely and the Hods way of doing it.


Cross Medals:


1. Attack any level 1 valley with 50 archers.

2. Attack any level 2 valley with 100 archers.

Rose Medals:


1. Attack any level 3 valley with 200 archers.

2. Attack any level 2 valley with 100 archers.

3. Attack any level 1 valley with 50 archers.

4. Attack any level 4 valley with 400 archers.

5. Attack any level 1 NPC with 50 ballista.

Lion Medals:

1. Attack any level 3 NPC with 250-300 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).
2. Attack any level 4 valley with 400 archers.

3. Attack any level 3 valley with 200 archers.

4. Attack any level 2 NPC with 125-200 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

5. Attack any level 5 valley with 750 archers.

Honor Medals:

1. Attack any level 4 NPC with 300-400 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

2. Attack any level 3 NPC with 250-300 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

3. Attack any level 6 valley with at least 1,500 archers.

4. Attack any level 5 valley with at least 750 archers.

5. Attack any level 2 NPC with 125-200 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

Courage Medals:


1. Attack any level 5 NPC with 350-500 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

2. Attack any level 4 NPC with 300-400 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

3. Attack any level 7 valley with at least 3,000 archers.

4. Attack any level 6 valley with at least 1,500 archers.

5. Attack any level 3 NPC with 250-300 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

Wisdom Medals:


1. Attack any level 5 NPC with 350-500 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level)

2. Attack any level 7 valley with at least 3,000 archers.

3. Attack any level 8 valley with at least 7,500 archers.

4. Attack any level 6 valley with at least 1,500 archers.

Freedom Medals:


1. Attack any level 5 NPC with 350-500 ballista (depending on your heroes attack level).

2. Attack any level 8 valley with at least 7,500 archers.

3. Attack any level 7 valley with at least 3,000 archers.

Nation Medals:


1. After completely wiping out a level 10 NPC, allow 40,000 warriors to regenerate. Attack and defeat the level 10 NPC with 40,000 warriors regenerated.

Justice Medals:

1. Attack any level 10 NPC with at least 90,000 archers and a few thousand warriors, pikemen, and swordsmen. Do this at your own risk, and only do it if your heroes attack is very high.

Medals On Nerf Servers
This guide applies to servers n1, wn1, wn2, wn3 and wn4.

Drop Rates


The drop rates on these servers are the next best to older servers. The drop rates on this server are estimated
at a solid 8% drop rate.

Finding Medals


First is where you find the medals most often on these servers.

1) Cross - Level 1-4 Valleys
2) Rose - Level 1-4 Valleys
3) Lion - Level 5+ Valleys | Level 1-3 NPCs
4) Honor - Level 8+ Valleys | 1-4 NPCs
5) Courage - Level 1-5 NPCs
6) Freedom - Level 4-5 NPCs
7) Wisdom - Level 5+ NPCs
8) Justice/Nation - Level 10 NPCs


With NPC's I usually get a medal every 40-50 attacks and on valleys I get a medal every 65-100 attacks.


My best strategy for getting medals on these servers is get a high rally spot and attack like 9 different valleys at a time.
On these severs the drop rate is kinda wack. Like you find medals a lot more in NPC's.

Extra Tips
  • I have found that by sending 400 transporters and 500 ballista at a level 5 NPC is very effective.
  • You have a higher chance of getting medals from NPCs than valleys on these servers.
  • You get nation medals usually on the smaller second spearhead waves and warrior raid waves.
  • I have also very often come across justice medals in level ten valleys, kind of strange.

Normally I dont have to big of a problem getting medals on Nerf servers. That's it, not a whole lot to getting medals on these servers.



Newer Servers
This guide applies to all world servers and servers above server 55(excluding server n1).

Drop Rates


The drop rates on these servers are no doubt the worst. The drop rate has been estimated at best a 5% drop rate. You probably will get a medal every 75-100 attacks on these servers.

Finding Medals


Option 1:

Most Effective
On these servers the best way to get medals is by attacking only level 10 valleys with 30k archers only if they do not have archers and cavalry in them. So
you will need to scout them with 1k scouts and with level 10 informatics.

Option 2:
Rapidly attacking level 5+ valleys by sending multiple attacks at the same valley. This is not the best strategy, but it does work sometimes.

Option 3:

In this option you have to attack a valley with 100% warriors and attack that valley every hour.


Extra Tips

  • In these strategies you are doing a lot of attacking at one time so you need a high level rally spot and feasting hall.
  • So far the best troop to use is warriors and archers.
  • These are the only servers where scout spams do not work at all.
  • Medals do not often come from NPCs as far as I know.


In conclusion the drop rates are so low on newer servers it can even get tough collecting consistent data. That is why
many "theories" come about, but these three options are proven to work on most newer servers.



FAQ


The answers to all your questions!

Should my hero should have a high INT score-No, nothing about your hero effects the drop rate.

Should my hero should have a low ATK score-No, nothing about your hero effects the drop rate.

Should I send the least troops possible?-Doesn't mater how many troops you send.

Should I attack higher level valleys/NPCs?-On the newer servers this seems to be the case. Other wise no.

Should I make sure it has fully regenerated its troops?-It increases your chances of getting a medal.

Do I need to take heavy losses of my own troops?-As long as you win the battle it doesn't mater.

Should I send a burst of several attacks in rapid succession on the same place?-It only works on newer servers some what and even then it's not a good strategy.

Should I send my attacks just after each hour when attacking the same valley/NPC?-It increases your chances of getting a medal, but no you do not have to do it.

Do I need to conquer instead of plundering?-As long as you win it doesn't mater.

Part VII:Taxes and Loyalty


Helping Items:

There some items that'll help you in times when you have low loyalty.

Disaster Relief-Increases loyalty by 5 and decreases public grievance by 15.

Praying-Increases by loyalty by 25 and decreases public grievance.

Speech Text-Increases loyalty to 100 and decreases public grievance to 0.


How Loyalty Works:

Loyalty works on how high your tax rate is. Your loyalty can also be affected from a player's attacks. When they attack you, you will lose loyalty depending on the attack and public grievance will rise as much as the loyalty was taken. Each time you get attacked, grievance rises and population decreases. At loyalty 15, when you attack others, there will be one public grievance and loyalty will go down itself from there.


You're probably wondering how tax rate can affect loyalty, well here are some examples and simple math.

Ex:
Tax Rate 10%=90 Loyalty

Tax Rate 5%=95 Loyalty

As you can see, if you have 5% tax rate for example, your loyalty will decreases by 5. If you had 2% tax rate, then the loyalty will decrease by 2.

Q: How Does Loyalty Effect Population?

A: It can, when your loyalty drops. Your population falls and the trend is downward. That is why you may notice "losing population" when your loyalty drops down lower than before.


Tax Rate:

Tax rate can affect your loyalty too, as you saw the examples listed above.

Q:How high should my tax rate be?

I usually set my around from 1-20%. 20% gives you decent amount at a time and good loyalty, you will be left with 80 loyalty. Population also does effect gold, as if you have none, your revenue will be 0. And the higher population, the more revenue you will get. Usually you should start off with 10%, as to high will result in some damages to your city. So make sure your tax rate is set good.

This is a group of items that do not have a specific category. Ranges from Hero leveling items to teleporting your city.

Civil code:
An item that increases your population by either 20% or 100 whichever is more. Normally used to help recover from a heavy attack series on your city as using while population is full would only mean a temporary increase thus a waste of money.
Price: 50 cents : 5 USD

Wealth of Nations:
Increases your heros politics by 25% for 7 days. to use go Feast hall select your best politics hero (should be your mayor) hit view, reward, then select wealth of nations from the drop down list then hit reward again.
Price: 40 cents : 4 USD

Epitome of Military Science:
Increase a heros experience level by 10,000 points or by 30% of level cap (the experience level needed to level up to the next level) which ever is more. To use go to feast hall select the hero you want, click view then next to his exp bar there is a little + sign. click on that and select Epitome of Military Science from the drop down menu. Exp given goes up the higher the lvl of the hero it is used on.
Price: 30 cents : 3 USD

Anabasis:
Increases a heros experience by 1000 points or 8% of level cap whichever is greater. Normally used on low lvl heros for quick level up. Exp given goes up the higher the lvl of the hero it is used on. to use follow the same steps as Epitome of Military Science.
Price: 8 cents : 80 US cents

On War:
Considered the best of the 3, increases a heros experience by 100,000 points or 100% of the level cap whichever is more. Best used on high lvl heros as they often require 200,000 or more exp for each lvl up. Exp given goes up the higher the lvl of the hero it is used on. to use follow the same steps as Epitome of Military Science and Anabasis.
Price: 100 cents : 10 USD

Truce Agreement:

An item used to prevent getting attacked for a 12 hour period. good to use if under attack or about to be attacked by a much better player. Note: incoming attacks when used will still hit but will prevent further actions against you. To use click on your ingame picture go to Player status hit change, select truce, input your password then hit change 1 more time. Must have a truce agreement item for this to work. Other factors needed for it to work: all troops must be in your city(ies). Effects of truce. no players can attack or scout you but you also can not scout or attack anything for the duration of the truce. There is a 12 hour cooldown between uses.

Speech Text
Great for recovering from being zerod, this item instantly puts your loyalty back at 100 and reduces public greivance to zero. To use go to my items, detail, apply.

Art of War:
Increase a heros Inteligence by 25% for 7 days. Best used on your inteligence hero (of course). Activated the same way as Wealth of Nations, Except on best Inteligence hero instead of best politics hero.

MichaelAngelo Script:
Arguably the most valuable item in the game allows you to upgrade a building from lvl 9 to 10. Regardless of the description lv 10 is the highest a building can go. to use select a lv 9 building have the necessary resources and hit upgrade. normally used on the Town hall or Walls first. Side note: Often referred to as a mich script or ma script

This item allows you to change your ingame name.

National Flag:

War Ensign:

Barb (verb): To transform a player city into a non-player city by abandoning it.
Example: "After she conquered the town, she barbed it."

Barbie: Slang for an non-player city.
Example: "She's new at the game, so she hasn't conquered a level 10 barbie yet."

Bats: Abbreviated version of "battering rams."
Example: "He was having trouble getting through the enemy defenses, so he began making rams."

Camp: To use the camp time feature in Evony which allows a player to synchronize multiple attacks and delay troop movement.
Example: "He camped so he could he could attack all four of her towns at once."

Cap: The act of conquering a town from another player by attacking it when its loyalty is at zero.
Example: "Wow, the enemy capped our town before we could even get near it with reinforcements."

Catas: An abbreviated form of "cataphracts." Can sometimes refer to "catapults" as well.
Example: "Looking through the scout reports, he began form an attack plan for his catas."

Cav: An abbreviated form of the word "cavalry."
Example: "Keep sending cav at that city 'til its loyalty drops to zero."

CL: An abbreviated form of "coordinates list."
Example: "After finding juicy target, he saved it to his CL."

Coords: An abbreviated form of "coordinates."
Example: "He wanted to know where he was located, so he checked the coords."

Farm: A term for another player or players town with resources that are easily accessible to other players. Not to be confused with the resource field of the same name.
Example: "Ever since that new guy quit, his towns have been farms for the enemy."

Hbr: An abbreviated form of "horseback riding."
Example: "He sent cavalry, but they were too slow due to his low hbr."

Hit: Slang for attacking.
Example: "I'd like to hit some enemy towns today."

Honor: A point measurement system used for ranking in Evony. Can only be gained through combat or scout battles with other players. Affects wounded ratio.
Example: "After crushing their alliance, he had the highest honor on the server."

Horses: Slang for "cavalry" and/or "cataphracts."
Example: "No, he doesn't attack much with his horses, he seems to think they're good for defense."

Int: A shortened form of the hero stat "intelligence."
Example: "He wanted faster research time so he worked at leveling his int hero."

Layers: Small numbers of different kinds of troops added to a town or attacking army to slow enemy movement in combat.
Example: "All his layers made your archers waste rounds while his archers killed yours."

NPC: Stands for "non-player city."
Example: "He made a bunch of NPC's around his city, at the advice of his alliance."

Padding: Small numbers of different kinds of troops added to a town or attacking army to slow enemy movement in combat.
Example: "You lost that battle because the other guy had much more padding."

Phracts: An abbreviated form of "cataphracts."
Example: "Since he'd never tried them before, he made some phracts to toy with."

Pikes: A shortened version of "pikemen."
Examples: "He made some pikes to counter enemy cavalry."

Pol: A shortened version of "politics," it generally refers to the hero stat.
Example: "Her new hero had high politics, so she made him mayor."

Ponies: Slang for "cavalry" and/or "cataphracts."
Example: "Poor fool, all his ponies died on my walls."

Port: A shortened form of "teleport."
Example: "They ported some cities in last night."

Prestige: A point measurement system used for ranking in Evony. Can be gained through nearly any action except those taken directly against or for other players.
Example: "He was building like a madman, hoping to get his prestige high enough to put him near the top."

Pults: A shortened form of "catapults."
Example: "She made pults to improve her defenses."

PVP: An abbreviated form of "player versus player."
Example: "He's good at the economic portions of the game, but I don't think he's all that great at pvp."

Rainbow: Small numbers of different kinds of troops added to a town or attacking army to slow enemy movement in combat.
Example: "She used rainbows in every attack she sent."

Rams: Shortened form of "battering rams."
Example: "When she saw a massive army of rams coming at her, she panicked, then asked for help."

Rax: Slang for "barracks." It can refer to either the building type or towns made primarily for the purpose of producing troops.
Example: "He's spitting out archers like crazy from his rax."

Reds: Slang for enemy towns which appear with red flags on the game map.
Example: "Could we declare more wars so I'll have some reds nearby to attack?"

Reins: An abbreviated form of the word "reinforcements."
Example: "Her alliance sent reins to her, but they didn't reach in time."

Res: A shortened version of the word "resources."
Example: "He had plenty of res in that town, so I don't know why he didn't make more troops."

Rp: Abbreviated form of "rally point."
Example: "She wanted to send a larger army, but he rp was too low a level."

Rs: An abbreviated form of "relief station."
Example: "Unfortunately, his rs was too low for his reinforcements to reach her in time."

Scout Bomb: An attack involving only or primarily scouts meant to kill defending troops.
Example: "I attacked him with so many scout bombs he had nothing left."

Spears: Slang for "pikemen."
Example: "He sincerely hoped he had enough spears to block the incoming cavalry attack."

Swords: A shortened form of "swordsmen."
Example: "Looking at the reports, he couldn't for the life of him figure out why his enemy had so many swords."

Suicides: Small waves of expendable troops meant to remove fortifications and/or layers.
Example: "She decided to send several waves of suicides before the main force in order to reduce her enemy's massive number of traps."

Supplies: Slang for "resources."
Example: "When she attacked you, did she take all your supplies?"

Teletack: To use a teleport to get closer to a target or targets with the intention of attacking them.
Example: "He teletacked their alliance host last night and crushed his towns."

Trans: A shortened form of "transporters."
Example: "Wait 'til my trans get back and I'll send you some resources."

Valley: Any non-city map location, which is manifested as flats, lakes, grasslands, swamps, hills, deserts, and forests.
Example: "She took his valleys to annoy him."

Wave (noun): An army marching towards a destination either to attack or reinforce it. Often used in plural.
Example: "He sent numerous waves and still couldn't break her defense."

Wave (verb): To send multiple attacks at a single target.
Example: "The defenses in his town are down, she just needs to wave it down to zero loyalty."

Wipe: To eliminate all troops, archer towers, and some or all defenses in a town or attacking wave.
Example: "Now that she's wiped that town, there's nothing to stop her from taking all its resources."

Zero: Forcing the loyalty of an enemy's town down to zero through numerous attacks.
Example: "As soon as he goes offline, I'm going to zero his town."
